In the 'Other' drop-down menu there are three new items: International Phonetic Alphabet, Arabic Keyboard and Hebrew Keyboard.
Selecting International Phonetic Alphabet shows the dialogue below. Clicking on a button will insert the corresponding symbol into the document at the cursor position.
Generally, symbols based on alphabetic characters are in the top half; superscripts and subscripts are in the bottom half. The button at the top right (⌫) is a delete button. To the left of that is a space button.
Similarly, selecting Arabic Keyboard or Hebrew Keyboard displays one of the dialogues shown below. This feature is most useful for those who are not skilled at typing Arabic or Hebrew. Those who can type should use select an Arabic or Hebrew keyboard layout from the Key Map menu. See: Key Maps and Right to Left.
These keyboard dialogues have a delete button at the top right (⌫), and a space button to the left of this. On the bottom row are tashkil or nikud subscripts and superscripts.
The last two buttons are used to enter the Right-to-Left Marker and the Left-to-Right Marker (RLM, LRM). These Unicode codes are sometimes necessary to adjust direction when a text has both Arabic (or Hebrew) and Roman letters in the same line. An explanation of these codes can be found here.
